This weekend we had a 3 day weekend because it was Mother’s Day in Thailand on Friday.
About 8 other teachers and I went to Koh Phangan, a well-known island off the coast of Surat Thani in the Gulf of Thailand.
Koh Phangan is infamous in traveler circles for the Full Moon Parties that happen once a month.
The Full Moon Party, located on Haad Rin Beach, attracts thousands of people.
We didn’t go to it.
Instead we went to a small beach, only accessible by longtail boat, called Haad Yuan.
It’s much smaller and less touristy than Haad Rin. It still fills up quickly on the weekend of the Full Moon, though, so we all ended up sleeping in the communal area of a bar. More on that later.
